(På Tærsklen til Hinanden)
A film by Amr Hatem and Line Grüner
Duration: 23.47 minutes
Thresholds of Belonging drifts through the fragile spaces of human encounters—where gestures, glances, and silences pull us together and push us apart. Through intimate stories of arrival, meeting new neighbours and navigating the Danish welfare system as a refugee, the film explores the entanglement of lives and what it means to belong in a situation of continuous uncertainty about the future. Blurring the lines between art and anthropology, it dwells in the pauses and uncertainties of everyday life, where connections are both sought and unsettled.
The film is a modified version of a looping video installation produced as part of the exhibition project On Solid Ground?, exhibited at Dokk1 in Aarhus, Denmark, March 2023.
Thresholds of Belonging and On Solid Ground? is part of Line Grüner’s PhD project, which explores the potentials of exhibition-making and the exhibition space as platforms for dialogue and cocreation of heterogenous knowledge.
